Can You Put A RTIC Cup In The Dishwasher?
In short no, in this article we will be telling you why and what happens if you do decide to put your cup into the microwave despite all warnings.
So what happens if you ignored all warnings about your RTIC tumbler not being dishwasher safe?
If you have it run on normal wash there’s a good chance no damage will be done. However, there have been reports of people stating that eventually you will damage the RTIC Tumbler and it could cause it to lose the vacuum seal, making it harder to insulate your cup properly.
Some would say it’s okay to put stainless steel into your dishwasher, and you can but you need to make sure that it’s on the top rack or in your cutlery rack, along with making sure it isn’t touching any other materials in order to get proper cleaning. After a while though due to detergent and extreme humidity you can corrode the metals, and the acidic residue left from food soils tarnishes the polish, causing you to lose that stainless steel shine.
Plus this stainless steel tumbler is not BPA-free so you are taking a risk to your own health.
Are RTIC Lids Dishwasher Safe?
Now as for the RTIC lid along with the rest of the tumble IS NOT dishwasher safe, and you will need to clean it by hand as well, trust me you’re going to want to. The rubber gasket in the lid is a breeding ground for mold, so with that information let's talk about how to clean this lid so you’re not drinking mold or anything else that has got under the rubber gasket. You will need to remove the rubber gasket from the lid, while making sure to not damage the gasket so you don’t lose the vacuum seal. Once you have removed the gasket you will wash both the lid and gasket thoroughly, rinse, then put back together.
How To Hand Wash A RTIC
Since you’re not able to wash your RTIC Tumbler without putting it through the dishwasher? So it’s pretty simple to clean both inside and outside of your tumbler with soap and water, do this before your first use as well. Now if you notice stains in your cup you can use baking soda and some vinegar to take them off. Add 2 tsp of baking soda, then add enough vinegar to get it foaming. As the mixture starts to foam up and clean the inside of the mug, the baking soda will act as an abrasive buffing the stainless steel while breaking down stains that are stuck on. Once the solution has sat for 10 minutes, rinse out completely and have it air dry face down.
So in this article we discovered that your RTIC stainless steel tumbler is not meant to be placed into the dishwasher, we talked about why and what would happen, and then we shared how to make sure your tumbler is washed properly.
